Berry Spread | Coconut sugar sweetened

This gooey smooth berry spread can be made with just about any berries you like, the trick is to add a little sweetener of your choice and then add a splash of arrowroot, corn or other starch to thicken things up. It’s perfect for spreading on cakes, cupcakes or toast. 

Berry Spread {coconut sugar sweetened}



  • 1 cup Raspberry or Strawberries or 1/2 cup each
  • 2/3 cup Coconut Sugar
  • 1 tsp. water
  • 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp. Agave or Maple Syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 tsp. Arrow Root Starch or Tapioca Starch



  • Add all ingredients in small pot and simmer on medium-low heat
  • As berries soften, crush with potato masher or fork
  • Let cook on medium to low heat until mixture reduces and berries are well cooked
  • Dissolve Starch in small amount of water and add to pot slowly while turning until mixture starts to thicken up.
  • Remove from heat and let cool
